New York state announces $21M for homeless housing

New York state has awarded more than $21 million to eight housing projects designed to serve previously homeless people.

The projects announced Thursday by Democratic ‘s administration will create 265 residential units throughout the state, with more than half in New York City, Long Island and Erie and Oneida counties.

The projects in Suffolk and Oneida counties will focus on serving homeless veterans and their families.

Residents in all of the units will be matched with job training, health care, assistance in obtaining public benefits, and other services.
