What are your expectations for the next 6-12 months?

I’m optimistic that interest rates and inflation will start to level off in the next six to 12 months. For now, projects are continuing to get done, but many of the larger projects will stay on hold until the economy finds its “new normal.”

What advice would you give someone just starting out in real estate law?

Find a mentor, listen and learn. Active listening is critical to success in the transaction practice of law. Make sure you know your client’s goals and objective and work hard to achieve them. In all circumstances, try to find a way to get to a “yes” for your client — even if there are a lot of steps and qualifiers. Clients appreciate you trying to accommodate their desired goals.

What do you enjoy most about practicing law in the Rochester area?

I have always enjoyed the sophisticated and collegial atmosphere amongst the greater Rochester legal community. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to practice all across New York State and in lots of areas around the country and the things that I have learned from my mentors and colleagues in the Rochester area has always served me well.
