Rochester lawyer named new partner at Cannon Heyman & Weiss LLC

Susan Sturman Jennings has been named a partner at the Buffalo- and Albany-based law firm of Cannon Heyman & Weiss LLC (CHW).

Jennings joined CHW after 23 years at Rochester-based Conifer Realty, a real estate company specializing in the development, construction, and management of affordable housing communities in several states.

As general counsel and senior vice president at Conifer, she was responsible for closing tax credit and real estate transactions and advising on compliance, construction, and property management matters.

Prior to joining Conifer, she was a principal at the law firm of Hessel & Aluise P.C. in Washington, D.C., where she represented developers and lenders in financing transactions. She also advised clients on issues regarding property management, HUD subsidy programs, and state agency regulation of affordable housing.

Jennings, who started her career as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, received a bachelor of science degree in public policy analysis from Cornell University and a juris doctorate from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law.
