What professional accomplishment have you been most proud of this year?

We have been working hard to build our sister company, Guru Discovery, over the past year. Guru was formed to address the ever-expanding needs for data processing and actionable analytics in the legal industry.

What do you think the biggest change in the legal industry will be over the next 3-5 years?

As in most industries, the continuing integration of AI technologies into the practice of law. AI has been a part of the discovery space, where we operate, for many years but it will continue to grow as part of mainstream legal practices in various aspects.

What are the most important skills lawyers need that they didn’t need 10-20 years ago?

Familiarity with, and a willingness to utilize, emergent technologies. That said, it is important to reiterate that these technologies are just better tools. They will not, in the foreseeable future, replace the judgment required to be an effective lawyer.

What is one thing you hope to accomplish before the end of next year?

I was unable to engender a new era of world peace last year, so either that again or lose 15 pounds.
