Judge in Dutchess County admonished by state watchdog agency

The has determined that Michael H. Plass, a Hyde Park town justice, in Dutchess County, should be admonished.

The Commission found that Plass should be disciplined for distributing a campaign mailer that included pledges suggesting bias in favor of law enforcement.

Although the Advisory Committee on had said Plass’s campaign mailer disqualified him from handling law-enforcement-related matters, the Commission disagreed, finding that admonition was consistent with precedents, and that Plass could now preside over the full range of cases in his court.

Plass has been a justice in Hyde Park since 2024.  His current term expires on Dec. 31, 2027.
