NY judge censured for misconduct

Listen to this articleThe New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct has recommended that Vernon City Court Judge Nichelle A. Johnson, in Westchester County, should be censured.
The commission found that the judge should be disciplined for engaging in improper ex parte communications, using the prestige of her judicial office to benefit acquaintances, and exhibiting poor demeanor.
Johnson, who agreed to the censure, has been a Mount Vernon City Court judge since April 2016. Her current term expires on Dec. 31.
