Two Rochester attorneys will chair sections of the New York State Bar Association.
Heather C.M. Rogers, a partner at Davidson Fink LLP, is the new chair of the 4,487-member Real Property Law Section, and David H. Tennant, a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP, will lead the 2,319-member Commercial and Federal Litigation Section.
Rogers is the manager of Davidson Fink’s default operations department. She concentrates her practice in commercial and residential real estate representing lenders, buyers and sellers. A portion of her practice is also rooted in business/corporate law, counseling entities on various matters from choice of entity to contract and other day-to-day matters.
Rogers recently served as vice-chair of the Real Property Section. She is past chair of the Monroe County Bar Association Real Estate Section.
Rogers received her undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University and earned her law degree from Duquesne University School of Law. She also earned an MBA from Rochester Institute of Technology, magna cum laude.
Tennant’s practice includes Indian law litigation and appeals, complex commercial litigation, product liability and insurance. An 18-year member of the state bar, he served as chair of the Committee on Mass Disaster Response from 1999 to 2002. Within the Commercial and Federal Litigation Section, Tennant recently served as chair-elect and co-chair of the Appellate Practice Committee.
He is a member of the Appellate Advocacy Committee of the Defense Research Institute and the American Bar Association’s Council of Appellate Lawyers of the Judicial Division. He also serves on the pro bono panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
Tennant received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Michigan and earned his law degree from the University of California at Los Angeles Law School (Order of the Coif).
