Woman sentenced for bank fraud schemes

Brandi Harris, 33, of Rochester, has been sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge David G. Larimer to three years in prison for and aggregated .

Harris was also ordered to pay restitution totaling $5,312.93.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Tiffany H. Lee said Harris admitted that between Dec. 9 and 16, 2010, she produced counterfeit checks which displayed a real HSBC bank account number and had given them to others to cash at various Wegmans locations in the Western District of New York in exchange for some of the proceeds.   

The defendant had already pleaded guilty to an earlier instance of bank fraud and aggravated identity theft involving similar conduct in June 2008.
