Twenty-one area attorneys were honored by The Daily Record on June 17 as it presented its annual Excellence in Law awards at a luncheon at the Hyatt Regency Rochester.
The awards are broken into three categories: Unsung Legal Heroes, Top Women in Law and Up & Coming Attorneys.
The Unsung Legal Heroes award honors individuals from, or working with, area civil legal services providers who have consistently helped those in need, often behind the scenes. The lone winner this year was Adele M. Fine, an assistant public defender in the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office.
Fine was also the winner of a business card drawing for a two-night stay for two at the Hyatt, general manager Amanda Hailstone reported.
The Top Women in Law Award recognizes outstanding accomplishments of women attorneys making notable contributions to the legal profession while inspiring a positive change in the community. The 2015 winners are state Court of Claims Judge Debra A. Martin, Lori Green, Natalie Grigg, Janet Somes and Julie Jordan. –
Up & Coming Attorneys are those who demonstrate a strong commitment to the legal profession early in the careers. Winners are Duwaine Bascoe, Ashley Champion, John Forbush, F. Paul Greene, Joseph Heins, Janet Horne, Monique Marchioni, Kathryn A.F. Martinez, Chenoa Maye, Anthony Scalia, Christine Seppeler, Josie Sheppard, Kara Stoddart, Leah Tarantino and Jeffrey Vaisey.
