Faraci Lange LLP announced that Kristin A. Merrick has joined the law firm as an associate. Merrick focuses her legal practice on personal injury litigation, including negligence matters, motor vehicle accidents, medical malpractice and premise liability matters. She previously served as an assistant district attorney in the Monroe County District Attorney’s office, where she prosecuted such offenses as sex crimes, child abuse, assault and driving while intoxicated. Merrick is a member of the American Association for Justice, the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the Monroe County and New York State Bar Associations, and the Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys.

Bond, Schoeneck & King PLLC announced that Karl S. Essler, senior counsel in the firm’s Rochester office, has been appointed to the Appellate Division, Fourth Department, Independent Judicial Election Qualification Commission for the 7th Judicial District. These commissions are a newly established statewide network of independent screening panels for judicial candidates. Essler is a real property attorney who focuses his practice in the areas of land use and zoning, real property litigation and real property transactions. He has appeared before municipal boards for all aspects of zoning and land use and zoning approvals, and handles legal challenges to these approvals. He also handles real property litigation such as title, boundary and easement disputes, lease litigation, condemnation, tax certiorari and environmental matters, and has completed extensive training sponsored by the New York State Bar Association to serve as a mediator in a variety of civil matters.

SWBR Architects, a Rochester-based firm, announced the hire of Samuel Elliott as architectural designer. Elliott will assist project architects and project teams with the design and coordination of architectural projects through all phases of the design process. He will be working on projects within the firm’s education sector, including The Performing Arts Center at Our Lady of Mercy School for Young Women, Roberts Wesleyan College’s Smith Hall and the SUNY Alfred Advanced Manufacturing Center. He has served as an intern architect for SWBR for over a year, focusing on sustainable design projects, during which time he earned his Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Associate accreditation. Elliott received his Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies from Allegheny College and a Master of Architecture in sustainability from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Bill Wayne was recently named project executive for DiMarco Group after advancing through the health care sector. After starting out as a radiology technologist, Wayne worked his way through various hospital administrative positions. Before coming to DiMarco, he completed more than 75 projects totaling over 600,000 square feet in real estate project management at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Wayne is responsible for securing new business, managing customers’ needs and expectations, and overseeing the development of active projects. Wayne received his Master of Science in business administration/medical management from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration and his Bachelor of Science in health services administration from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Make-A-Wish Western New York announced the appointment of Katrina Connelly, chief administrative officer at Faraci Lange LLP, to the New Leadership Council. The council is comprised of leaders under 40 in the Rochester community who embrace and promote the Make-A-Wish mission. Connelly will join other members who have been appointed to help build sustainability and provide resources and guidance to ensure that Make-A-Wish has the ability to grant the wishes of every medically-eligible child within the 9-counties of the Rochester region.

Trillium Health announced that William E. Belecz will be joining the company Aug. 17 as new chief operating officer and senior vice president of Programs and Services. Belecz will be overseeing Trillium Health’s expansion as the company provides new services, barrier-free access to medical care and supportive services, and earn our designation as a Federally Qualified Health Center. Belecz comes from Visiting Nurse Service, an affiliate of the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he served for more than 24 years. He brings to Trillium Health a history of service and strong experience in strategic planning, business development, operations, program oversight and management, facilities and organizational development. In addition, he also brings an established connection with our organization through his oversight of the Meals on Wheels Program, working with both our legacy AIDS Rochester organization as well as Trillium Health’s current Congregate Meal Program.

Visiting Nurse Service of Rochester appointed Alicia Dockrell as its director of Patient Financial Services. Dockrell, who has worked in health care billing for 28 years, is responsible for planning, directing and evaluating the management of timely and successful follow-up of all outstanding account balances. She most recently worked as director of Revenue Cycle for a local human services agency and manager of Patient Financial Services for Unity Health System. A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Dockrell is a past president of the Rochester Regional Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

Derek Hagberg has joined the counter sales staff at Johnstone Supply, where he serves the wholesale distributor’s HVACR (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration) and facilities maintenance customers. For the past five years, he has worked at D’Angelo Plumbing & Heating as a service technician. He is a graduate of the BOCES HVAC program in Spencerport.
