Attorney Ian M. Harrington has joined The Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo as deputy executive director of its criminal practice.
Harrington has nearly two decades of experience in criminal defense and public service at the bureau. Most recently, he served as the attorney in charge of the Western New York Regional Support Center for the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services (ILS), where he managed a team supporting nine counties in the improvement of mandated representation services.
Prior to his work with ILS, Harrington practiced criminal defense law for over 13 years with Harrington & Mahoney and served on both the Erie County and federal CJA assigned counsel panels.
Harrington received his law degree at the University at Buffalo School of Law. He also has a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Fordham University.
He is currently pursuing a master of business administration degree from the University at Buffalo’s School of Management.
Harrington is an active member of the Erie County Bar Association, where he chairs both the Lawyers Helping Lawyers Committee and the Criminal Law Committee.
He also is a member of several state and national defense organizations.
