Seneca Falls supervisor arrested after harassment complaint

Seneca Falls Town Supervisor Frank E. Schmitter, 66, was arrested Friday, May 1, after a harassment complaint, police said.

The Seneca Falls Police Department said Schmitter is accused of damaging a wall at the Seneca Falls Municipal Building on April 30 and making unwanted physical contact with a fellow Town Board member.

Schmitter was charged with third-degree criminal mischief, official misconduct and second-degree harassment.

Police said he was taken to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await arraignment in Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Part court.

An order of protection was requested on behalf of the alleged victim.
