Police release name of slain western NY woman

PERINTON — Authorities have released the name of the suburban Rochester woman found slain in her home last week.

The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s office tells Rochester media outlets that 37-year-old Patricia Irish died from asphyxiation and multiple stab wounds. Sheriff’s deputies have charged her husband, 56-year-old Douglas Irish, with . He has pleaded not guilty.

Patricia Irish’s body was found Friday evening inside the family’s home in the town of . Deputies were called to the house after two of her children couldn’t get inside after coming home from school.

Neighbors say the couple married about a year ago.

Douglas Irish is being held in Monroe County Jail without bail.
