The readers of Plant Engineering magazine have selected Garlock Sealing Technologies’ new SGi shaft-grounding bearing isolator for the 2011 Product of the Year Gold Award in the power transmission category.
In addition, the company’s new EnDuro oil mist bearing isolator and THERMa-PUR high-temperature gasketing material were among the more than 100 finalists in 14 categories.
“The 24th annual Plant Engineering Product of the Year awards are the premier honor for new products in the manufacturing market,” said Bob Vavra, content manager for CFE Media, which publishes the magazine. Finalists were chosen by a panel of industry experts, published in the November 2011 issue of the magazine and voted on by its readers.
The Garlock SGi bearing isolator incorporates the industry’s only maintenance-free, shaft voltage mitigation technology. It is the first seal of its kind to provide reliable, maintenance-free bearing protection by preventing contamination, lubrication loss and electrical damage in vulnerable variable speed drives and other industrial applications.
