St. John Fisher recognizes local businesswoman

Cheryl Lynn Yawman will be honored March 21 as the Outstanding Accounting Alumnus of the Year by St. John Fisher College.

She is a certified public accountant and practice director at the Rochester executive search firm of Cochran, Cochran and Yale.

Yawman, a 1986 graduate of the college and a resident of Fairport, was nominated for her professional and civic contributions which include her volunteer work with the college’s accounting alumni, mentoring, donor and advisory committees, board member of the Sojourner House, a transitional housing program for women and families; and as a member of the Catholic Diocese of Rochester Stewardship Council.

In her professional career as an executive recruiter at CCY, where she’s worked since 2005, Yawman serves as an accounting, tax, audit and finance recruiting professional.

She was named as a 2012 Athena Award finalist by the Women’s Council of the Rochester Business Alliance and has received the Rochester Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 Award. She is currently serving her second term as the president of the Rochester Chapter of the New York State Society of CPAs.
