Wegmans Food Markets will join leadership of Inc. at 3 p.m. Thursday to present $100,000, the largest made on behalf of the Rochester-based store and its programs and services for area veterans and their families.

The donation will be presented by Mary Ellen Burris, Wegmans senior vice president of consumer affairs, and Community Relations Team Leader Diane Evans to Col. Gary S. Yaple, president and CEO of Veterans Outreach Center.

“There’s no question that Wegmans’ philanthropy works within this community to create healthier families and neighborhoods,” Yaple said. “This gift is a significant boost to our no-cost programs and we will use it to ensure we can continue to provide support for the more than 68,000 veteran families in this region for another 40 years to come.”

Founded in 1973, Veterans Outreach Center offers more than 17 service programs to veterans of any era and remains the oldest independent-operating veteran service agency in the nation. The organization focuses on connecting individuals to employment opportunity, job training, educational programs, stable housing and licensed counseling services.
