Partner, Managing Director of Buffalo, Toronto, and Clarence offices, Barclay Damon LLP
Years in current role: 6
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve dealt with over the past year?
Obviously, dealing with the pandemic has been the biggest challenge for all of us in the past year. Fortunately, we have invested a lot in the last several years on technology and training of our attorneys and staff. As a result, our move to a remote working environment went remarkably well and our overall productivity actually improved. That said, we take nothing for granted and will continue to manage the firm proactively to position ourselves for continued success in the future.
What do you see as the biggest changes in the legal industry in the next 3-5 years?
Even with light at the end of the tunnel relative to the pandemic and the easing of restrictions, I do not expect that business will go back to pre-COVID practice. Some form of remote work will continue as our people have enjoyed it and remained engaged and productive. The challenge will be in maintaining culture and making sure we are mentoring and engaging our people, but we have always been good at that and expect it to continue.
What are you most looking forward to doing as COVID restrictions ease?
Seeing more of my family and friends.
