What do you enjoy most about practicing labor and employment law?
I have fully enjoyed the practice of law over the past 38 years. My practice has been concentrated in general commercial litigation and employment law. Employment law provides many unique opportunities to confront issues and help clients solve problems to reach solutions to bring out the best in the human resource element, the most critical component of every business regardless of size.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve dealt with over the past year?
The biggest challenge over the past couple of years has been navigating change. The world as we’ve always known it has transformed. The greatest opportunities will come to those that have embraced change. I plan to be among them. As president of the New York State Bar Association I have had the great privilege of leading sweeping changes impacting the legal profession and the members of the largest voluntary bar association in the United States.
What community organizations do you support as a volunteer and why?
As president of the New York State Association, my focus is statewide, nationwide and worldwide. I spend time around the country and globe advancing issues to bring about positive impact on the lives of citizens. When I’m back home I continue to support community organizations geared to bettering lives, promoting equity and life‘s opportunities, through education initiatives, cultural development and human services.
