What do you enjoy most about your position?

There is never a dull moment! We have wonderful clients from around the world. Each day presents new challenges and new opportunities. I truly enjoy coming to work every day knowing something interesting is going to happen. Lucky for me, I have the best team of attorneys, paralegals and assistants to work with. They are detail-oriented, creative and most importantly, they care about our clients as much as I do. We work hard and try to have some fun too.

What are the biggest current challenges in trusts and estates law?

Right now, we cannot predict what will happen with the federal and state estate tax exemptions after 2025. Due to that uncertainty, it’s crucial to create estate plans with as much flexibility as possible. Sometimes, that flexibility adds complexity to the plan when most clients crave simplicity. My goal is to strike the right balance of flexibility and simplicity to best serve each client.

What do you enjoy most about practicing law in the Rochester area?

I feel quite fortunate to be part of such a collegial bar here in Rochester, especially in the Trusts and Estates practice area. Our practitioners are smart and friendly. We have the opportunity to work on sophisticated and interesting projects and we have an easy commute to the office. Really, it would be hard to ask for a more ideal place to practice law.
