Senior Appellate Counsel, Counsel Press

Years in current role: 31

What professional accomplishment have you been most proud of this year?

I was very honored to be chosen as President-Elect for the University at Buffalo School of Law Alumni Association with my term starting in June 2024. I have enjoyed serving on our alumni board and Counsel Press has been a long-time sponsor of our association. I am hopeful to be able to use the relationships I have developed over the years to benefit the law alumni association, the law school and most importantly, the law students. I am very proud to serve in this role.

What do you think the biggest change in the legal industry will be over the next 3-5 years?

In the world of Appellate Practice in New York State, I believe there will be continued emphasis by the courts on the quality of the electronic records and briefs that are filed and as that occurs, there will be increased demand for the best electronic product possible, including meeting the requirement of hyperlinking authorities in briefs. This is already required at the Second Department and optional at the First Department. We could easily see this become the norm across the four Appellate Divisions at some point.

What Rochester-area organizations do you support and why?

Through Counsel Press and through my own personal efforts, I have supported many Rochester-area organizations, including the Monroe County Bar Association, the Monroe County Bar Foundation, Greater Rochester Association for Women Attorneys, JustCause (formerly known as Volunteer Legal Services Project) and the Paralegal Association of Rochester. We appreciate the benefits that each of these organizations provide to the Rochester legal community and the community at large. Counsel Press is well known as one of the largest underwriters and supporters of the legal community in Rochester. Despite being headquartered in Buffalo, I take great pleasure in supporting and attending events and programs in the Rochester area and I value these relationships.
