PAETEC to provide Army with network services

PAETEC has been awarded a five-year contract by the U.S. Army to provide network services, including voice, data and secure Internet access services, to Fort Detrick in Frederick, Md.

Fort Detrick serves as the home base for the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command and the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, which researches and develops medical solutions to protect military service members from biological threats.

PAETEC, according to a release, will serve the fort’s 7,800 military, federal and contractor employees, providing reliable voice services using multiple network access points to eliminate network-caused interruptions on more than 10,000 phone lines.

In addition PAETEC will provide private Ethernet data network services and secure Internet access services to allow military and civilian personnel at the facility to communicate with off-base institutions through a secure and fault-tolerant infrastructure.
