Amazon is expanding its footprint in Greater Rochester yet again, this time to provide even faster delivery of products to consumers.

.com Services LLC finalized the purchase of property at 119 Shepard Road, which is adjacent to the company’s sortation facility at 90 Shepard Road. The property is zoned light industrial/warehouse.

Acquest , through Gillett Road Ogden LLC, was the seller. Amazon is paying $7,248,319 for the 84.6 acres, with plans to build a 250,572-square-foot facility on 37.63 acres. The deed was filed today with the Monroe County Clerk’s Office.

Ogden Town Supervisor Mike Zale said earlier this year that the proposed development at 119 Shepard Rd. will be used to ensure same-day delivery is even more efficient.

Acquest, headquartered in the suburb of Williamsville, has provided development services to the ecommerce giant for several projects in the Rochester area, including the $512 million fulfillment center at 2600 Manitou Rd. in Gates and the $45.6 million Shepard Road sortation facility.

Amazon opened the sortation center in September, three years after it was ready for occupancy. The pause in the launch was attributed first to supply chain and online shopping slowdowns, then equipment issues.

Acquest has also worked with Amazon in the Buffalo area, though plans for a massive distribution center on Grand Island collapsed due to approval issues. Rather than pursue the project further, Acquest owners William and Michael Huntress sold the 207-acre plot to the Seneca Nation for $1 earlier this month.
