Maryland-based firm pays $46.2M for Rochester apartments

A Maryland-based investment and management firm specializing in multifamily properties has purchased a 504-unit affordable community in ‘s Upper Mt. Hope neighborhood.

CAPREIT, through Tilden Rochester Highlands , LLC, paid $46.2 million for Rochester Highlands. The property, built in 1965, is located at 47 Green Knolls Dr. with tax parcels at 336 and 380 Westfall Rd.

CAPREIT, headquartered in Bethesda, owns and manages apartment communities across 14 states and the District of Columbia. Rochester Highlands is the only upstate property in the firm’s portfolio.

The firm had been managing the garden-style apartment complex since February of 2018, assuming oversight of operations two months after California-based Rochester Highlands New York, LLC, purchased the property for $24.5 million.

CAPREIT was founded in 1993 and the portfolio now has more than 15,000 rental units.
