LLC, real estate agent license filings up

Listen to this articleThe Department of State on Wednesday reported that 10,524 new corporations were registered New York last month, up 3 percent over February 2009.
Secretary of State Lorraine Cortés-Vázquez announced that the agency’s Division of Licensing Services saw the number of licensed professionals in real estate rise by nearly 14 percent from February 2009 to February 2010. The number of licensed security guards more than doubled.
Within the corporation category, nonprofit corporations registered were down 10.5 percent during that time; LLCs were up 10.6 percent; LLP registrations were down 26.7 percent and LPs were up 3.8 percent.
The number of new licensee filings for real estate brokers and salespersons were up 13.8 percent, from 813 in February 2009 to 925 in February 2010.
The Department of State’s Division of Corporations files and maintains documents relating to business entities formed under the laws of New York State or authorized to do business under the laws of the state.
