A national dry cleaning retailer that uses an environmentally friendly process is coming to the Rochester region.

Martinizing Dry Cleaning opened its first store in Western New York on Feb. 7 at 12 Courtney Drive in .

Unlike traditional dry cleaners, which use a petroleum-based solvent, the company’s GreenEarth process uses no hazardous chemicals. Cleaning is done with liquid silicone — a gentle, natural product used in many shampoos, lotions and deodorants.

The outlet is locally owned and operated by Todd Sankes, a first-time entrepreneur and 24-year Kodak veteran. All cleaning will occur on premises.

“I spent the better part of a year searching for franchise opportunities that demonstrated a proven business model, and which would also be unique to Rochester,” Sankes said. “With GreenEarth, garments just look and feel better. They are softer, with more body; colors are brighter and whites whiter.”

The store is planning multiple grand-opening specials and events over the coming weeks.
