She was sworn in Friday by her predecessor, Mike Green, while her husband, Bill Loftus, and their daughters, Meghan and Erin, held the Bible.
Featured speakers included Lt. Gov. Robert J. Duffy and former district attorney Howard Relin.
The ceremony was at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester, which was packed with supporters including U.S. Rep. Louise Slaughter of Fairport and Joe Morelle, chairman of the Monroe County Democratic Committee.
A highlight of the ceremony was Erin and Meghan Loftus performing with their fellow members of the Drumcliffe School of Irish Dance. Also attending were County Executive Maggie Brooks, the county’s first woman county executive, and County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo.
