What skills do you think are most crucial for new attorneys entering the field today?
The legal profession has evolved significantly, with younger generations prioritizing work-life balance in ways that were less common in years past. Today’s legal community still strives to deliver exceptional legal services, but there’s a stronger focus on sustainability and well-being alongside professional excellence. This shift requires new attorneys to be more adaptable, develop practical problem-solving skills, manage their time and work ethic with intention, and think strategically about how to deliver quality work efficiently. Success now depends not just on legal knowledge, but on the ability to balance high performance with a mindful, modern approach to career and life.
What’s one misconception people often have about your area of law?
One common misconception about family law and divorce is that it’s overwhelmingly negative and emotionally draining. While it can be intense, it’s actually one of the most rewarding areas of practice. Helping people navigate life-changing transitions and guiding them toward healthier, more stable futures is incredibly fulfilling. It’s not just about conflict — it’s about problem-solving, empowerment and making a meaningful difference in people’s lives when they need it most.
What’s your ideal way to spend a weekend in the Finger Lakes or Western New York?
My ideal weekend in Western New York would include time by the water, exploring the local lakes and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. In the winter, my kids and I love snowboarding at the nearby resorts. We also enjoy discovering local arts, trying new foods, and attending the amazing festivals that bring the community together. It’s the perfect balance of adventure, family time and experiencing the unique charm of our area.
