Years in current role: 8
What is one legal issue or trend you’re keeping a close eye on this year?
Artificial Intelligence is having a significant and ongoing impact in the legal industry. Legal professionals are recognizing its transformative potential and are exploring and integrating AI tools to enhance their practices, while also working to establish responsible and ethical guidelines for its use.
What skills do you think are most crucial for new attorneys entering the field today?
To succeed as a new attorney requires not only a strong foundation of legal knowledge, but also resilience, curiosity, critical thinking and clear, concise persuasive writing. Add to that flexibility, adaptability and a proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development.
How does the Rochester community influence your work or professional philosophy?
In sharp contrast to many other communities and countries in the world, we are fortunate to live in a vibrant place that continues to believe in and demonstrate a commitment to work together to advance and improve our community. My professional philosophy is deeply rooted in collaboration, which also stands as one of the fundamental principles at Harris Beach Murtha. I believe we accomplish the most when we’re collaborative and inclusive, both in the workplace and within our community.
What’s your ideal way to spend a weekend in the Finger Lakes or Western New York?
Our community has so much to offer. My perfect summer weekend starts with a concert at CMAC on a Friday evening. I’d continue the adventure in the Finger Lakes region, with visits to some of the wineries and breweries, spend time on the shores of Keuka Lake, hike the gorge trail in Taughannock Falls State Park and finish with a grilled dinner on Sunday evening right in my own backyard.
