What is one legal issue or trend you’re keeping a close eye on this year?
One important trend I’m watching is the continued challenge injured workers face in navigating increasingly complex Workers’ Compensation systems. Legislative and administrative changes have barriers for those most in need. As attorneys, we must remain vigilant advocates — ensuring fairness, clarity and access to benefits for individuals and their families in their time of need.
What skills do you think are most crucial for new attorneys entering the field today?
New attorneys must combine strong legal fundamentals with empathy and communication. Especially in injury and disability cases, clients are going through trauma and uncertainty. It’s not just about knowing the law — it’s about listening well, being responsive, and helping clients make informed decisions. The ability to be a guide as much as a litigator is more important than ever.
What’s one misconception people often have about your area of law?
Many believe Workers’ Compensation is a simple system — file a claim, get a check. In reality, it’s a labyrinth of forms, deadlines and denials. Without knowledgeable legal help, injured workers can be quickly overwhelmed or wrongly denied what they’re entitled to. Our job is to make sure they’re informed, protected and empowered through every step of the process.
How does the Rochester community influence your work or professional philosophy?
Rochester is where I built my life, raised my family, and launched a law firm dedicated to helping others. It’s a city rooted in resilience and service — values that have shaped my entire career. Whether it’s supporting local charities, sponsoring youth sports, mentoring young attorneys, or advocating for injured workers, I’ve always believed in giving back to the community that gave so much to me. That belief drives everything we do at Connors & Ferris.
What’s your ideal way to spend a weekend in the Finger Lakes or Western New York?
There’s nothing better than unplugging and enjoying everything Western New York has to offer — an ideal weekend includes time with family, reading, traveling around our beautiful state, attending a sporting event or jumping on the motorcycle on a gorgeous day.
